As a side note, I was, at one point in the distant past, working on a story entitled Pixie Sticks & Dr. Pepper. It was quite awful, but fun, and the title of this blog sounds like one of the chapter titles to that story. Occasionally I will get an email letting me know the story has another follower, at which point I feel guilty and tell myself I really should update… Perhaps the next update will use this blog title, if it ever actually comes about.
Anyway, to the point of this blog (which is really pointless). I have, for years, harbored a deep dislike for ice cream. I will occasionally crave it, but it inevitably ends as badly as my attempts to eat pancakes–three bites in I wonder why I thought I wanted it. I have recently discovered some fantastic pumpkin ice cream that escapes this rule–though it is located in a little shop across from my sister’s work in Durham, so I never have it. I have, this week, discovered that mint chocolate chip ice cream is also exempt from this hatred. It must be green mint chocolate chip ice cream, though…the white variety just doesn’t cut it. Really, this has no bearing on anything, I am just excited that I no longer have to say, “No, I do not wish to go get ice cream, because I despise it with every fiber of my being.”
In other news, an old friend of mine has taken to proposing to me quite frequently, and I am at a loss for inventive ways to decline him. I wonder if they have an emulator for that somewhere online?
Have been following Neil Gaiman’s blog recently because, let’s face it, he is a genius, and a dead sexy one at that. I’ve also started following his Twitter, and I must say…he and Amanda Palmer are absolutely-fucking-adorable. I don’t generally get into celebrity relationships, but I am definitely struck by the cute-ness of that particular couple. I had, in the past, been a casual listener to the Dresden Dolls. Coin Operated Boy caught my attention, and I’d occasionally look up some songs on YouTube. But I’ve never, until recently it seems, been one to dig into the personal history of the artists I enjoy. Amanda is insane, rough-around the edges, and fantastic. The entire Rebellyon movement, the problems with her song Oasis, even the whole #LOFNOTC thing…they are things I love seeing out of celebrities. Standing up for freedoms, and being honest and as real as you can get…it’s refreshing.
Now that I’ve had my fangirl moment of the week, I had better be going to do something else before this blog falls even further into the depths of the pointless and random.
